"We just came in from tossing some bocce balls this evening, under the lights! No matter the time of day, no matter the source of light, natural or artificial, our new backyard environment is beautiful thanks to you!
I know we will be spending a lot more time in the backyard — how could we not! There is such a feeling of solidity (I guess boulders will do that!) that contributes to the sense of calm and peace. It will be fun to see the plants and trees develop and fill in. Thank you, Julie, for giving us this opportunity to enjoy our fabulous, new outdoor space.
You’re the best!"
"Before choosing a landscape designer, I conducted a lot of research to see who would be the best choice based on the look of the final yards and we wanted something natural, not cookie cutter. Julie stood out as the best.
The final work was stunning and we got rave reviews from all the neighbors. We even won a landscaping award!
She is just genuinely wonderful and a kind person. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better landscape designer."
“We wanted to convert our pool into a water storage system. Working with Julie was a wonderful journey together of collaborative design not only the pool conversion, but our entire backyard - patios, fire pit area, raised (nice and high) vegetable beds - we're not getting any younger! - hot tub area and overall planting re-design, all of which complement our Lafayette home's architectural style -
a sort of 'friendly mid-century' feel.
We could not have been in better hands –
Julie was always advocating for us. As an Architect, the expectation was set pretty high, and we are delighted to report that all standards were surpassed. We look forward to continuing our relationship - and our new outdoor spaces and features!”
"In a word, Julie is fabulous. We went to her for help with a very loose idea of how to transform a large yard, including a challenging hillside that had seen far better days.
Julie came in, took our rather vague ideas, and created an oasis. Their design was spot-on for our property - even one 'hidden nook' that I questioned during the planning phase but now think is the most brilliant use of land.
Communication was excellent throughout,
and put simply, we just really enjoyed working with her. I give my highest recommendation."
"We wanted to create a peaceful oasis in our yard. Julie designed and completed a project of our neighbor’s which is so beautiful, and we knew she could help us.
Julie sat in our yard multiple times getting to know us and the space. This was a large project including a new deck, dry well for gutters to drain into, fencing, hardscape, grading, lighting,
you name it.
We now have an area for our grandkids to play, berries for them to pick, veggie beds we've wanted for so long, colorful drought tolerant plantings. A quiet haven after a long day. Even months later Julie is checking in... feels like family."
"We highly recommend Julie for anyone looking to landscape their property. We were interested in replacing a courtyard deck in our backyard with low-water plantings and a patio. We also wanted to reduce the area of the lawn, convert irrigation to drip, and install new lighting.
The design process was amazing; Julie came up with a beautiful design that was both innovative and water-efficient. In addition, the process was notable for how easy she was to work with and her overall professionalism."
“Julie did an excellent job designing a major redo of our large yard in Lafayette. It included a sophisticated new irrigation system for a wide variety of native, low water use plants.
Also included are large redwood planter boxes for vegetables, meandering trails throughout, large mossy rocks, and a 'secret nook' area overlooking Lafayette Creek, which runs through the back of our property.
The back patio was expanded to accommodate outdoor entertainment, and subtle lighting was installed to add
character at night.”
“We highly recommend Julie! We hired her to re-design our backyard after a construction project. We needed to re-do all of the irrigation system, engineer a new entrance for the new building, add back our lighting and make the new construction look like it was there all along. We wanted to incorporate California native and low-water use plants.
We could not be happier! It all fits the setting of the property, it's beautiful. Working with Julie was fun. She is a fabulous listener and very knowledgeable. The plant selection and design incorporated everything we threw at her! Thanks Julie, looking forward to watching this amazing landscape grow for years to come!”
“We did a major overhaul of our backyard.
Julie's design incorporated everything we asked for, including the addition of a deck, a path and lighting, a rock wall, tree replacements and the predominant use of native plants.
We are very pleased with the results. The best part is how well the design fits the house and the existing patio. It feels like the (30-year old) house is more anchored to its setting than ever. It's a different, lovely, view from each window, but it flows together with grace.”
"Outstanding! Julie does beautiful work.
My husband and I took an instant liking to the way Julie is a considerate listener and empathetic in her understanding of what we were hoping to achieve.
We are both delighted with the results and have already had several people stop by to find out who did the work. Highly recommended!"
“We live in drought-starved California and had an old leaky swimming pool we no longer used. We wanted to take out the pool and replace the space with drought tolerant plants and a high-quality drip irrigation system. Julie helped design the conversion of our pool into a 7500-gal subterranean cistern, the first in No. California. Rainwater from the roof is now plumbed to the storage system during winter and pumped through the irrigation system to water plants in the dry summer months.
Julie’s design also creatively incorporated additional elements we wanted including raised vegetable beds and a bocce ball court. Our backyard was completely transformed from a mostly concrete, little-used space into a beautiful, nature-filled oasis that we enjoy year-round.”
“What a transformation!
Years of drought and a failed irrigation system left our yards a wasteland. Julie was a delight to work with and she designed a drought tolerant plan that included a new irrigation system and accent lighting.
We couldn't be happier with
the way it turned out!”
"Thank you for our jewel box garden."
"I’ve returned to Berkeley for a few days respite after 3 weeks in Chicago. This morning was the first opportunity I’ve had to really walk through the garden. All the plants are thriving and it looks so beautiful.
Michael and I sat for awhile up in the little terraced area at the top of the hill; it is exactly what I wanted it to be — a beautiful and serene woodland garden. Good for the soul.
Thank you for the wonderful work.
It has been so much fun working with you."
